The Cape Town Diaries - Week 3

Updated: Apr 22

This week began with another visit to Brandvlei, offering the perfect setting for windsurfing and kiteboarding. Mikey made the most of the conditions opting for a double dip, windsurfing and kitesurfing. First windsurfing on 4.0 and later kiting on a 7m. As the kitesurfers usually launch from the opposite side of the dam, Mikey loved being somewhere with hardly any kites out. He also described more of the 'magic gusts' giving him extra lift and time in the air.

On the way home from the dam, we found the perfect opportunity to visit the picturesque wine farm, Babylonstoren, where they grown their own produce and have beautiful views.

As the week unfolded, Big Bay welcomed back the wind and waves, presenting challenging conditions with slightly gusty winds and sizable waves. Undeterred, everyone embraced the conditions, before viewing the breathtaking sunsets at the end of the day.

Later in the week, we visited Langebaan, a flat water haven just over an hour north of Big Bay. Despite the occasional busyness with kite schools, we kited further upwind for some dreamy conditions. Against the backdrop of the views, playful seals added to memorable day for us.
